My Approach to Helping
My approach to psychotherapy is warm, engaged, collaborative, and rooted in a profound respect for each individual's need to be understood. Suffering is a distinctively individual experience. You may be experiencing a profound sense of loneliness or isolation. You may feel powerless to relate to others or you may find it hard to fit in. Perhaps anxiety or depression are hindering you from feeling wholly engaged in important relationships and in your life. Your relationships may come apart despite your greatest efforts. You may be observing that it is tough to be patient or kind with others as well as yourself.
Healing is a process that becomes possible with the acceptance, patience, respect, and kindness of another person. I listen thoughtfully and will help you identify the underlying, unconscious forces that form, and sometimes limit your life. By collaborating we will explore the experiences you have experienced that have helped create your internal landscape. By exploring the effects of your experiences, you may find yourself to be increasingly conscious of the manners in which you have become caught in patterns that cease to be useful to you.
I offer a reliable, warm, and thoughtful presence in which you can experience self-discovery and gain a deeper understanding, allowing it to be possible for lasting and deep changes to occur. I provide long term psychoanalytic psychotherapy in addition to brief insight-oriented treatment. Seeking out therapy is a courageous and hopeful act and I encourage you to ultimately take the next step.
