My Approach to Helping

I am a caring, empathetic and interactive therapist who is practical and problem solving oriented. I have worked in the field for over 28 years and have a broad range of training and experience. I am usually able to tailor the therapy experience to the needs of each client, helping them understand why they are having the problems that brought them to therapy and what they can do to solve the the problems.

I use traditional Talking Psychotherapy to help the client evaluate and understand the factors that have shaped current problems. This approach uses working with the client's beliefs, feelings and behaviors in a way that can eliminate or reduce symptoms. I also use Imagery, Somatic Psychotherapy and Mindfulness Meditation to teach clients to use their awareness of body sensations to directly affect the unconscious nervous system to make changes that go beyond what talking therapy is able to do. I am certified as a practitioner in Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and Interactive Imagery(sm).
