My Approach to Helping
I'm Yoneka Powell, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. My journey in healthcare began when I earned an Associate of Arts in Nursing at Santa Fe College in 2009. Following that, I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida A&M University in 2011. Initially drawn to critical care nursing, my career took an unexpected turn when I accepted a position as a mental health nurse at U.F. Health Shands Psychiatric Hospital.

MORE INFO ABOUT MY PRACTICE
I began my nursing career by obtaining an Associate of Arts in Nursing from Santa Fe College in 2009. Graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida A&M University in 2011, my early aspirations were in critical care nursing. However, my trajectory shifted when I found my passion in the mental health field during a role at U.F. Health Shands Psychiatric Hospital.
Driven by this newfound focus, I pursued a Master of Science in Nursing at the University of South Alabama. My clinical experience included placements at U.F. Health Shands Springhill is in Gainesville, FL; Park Place Behavioral is in Kissimmee, FL; and Aspire Health Partners is in Orlando, FL. WHAT MAKES UP A PROBLEM?
Understanding the intricate components contributing to a problem is fundamental in my practice. Mental health challenges are complex and multifaceted, involving a combination of biological, psychological, and environmental factors. I recognize that problems are not merely a collection of symptoms but a unique interplay of various elements.
Addressing a problem involves managing immediate symptoms and delving into the root causes. I believe in a thorough assessment to comprehend the holistic picture, allowing for tailored interventions. By considering the entirety of an individual's circumstances, I aim to provide comprehensive and practical solutions to their challenges.
