My Approach to Helping
Virginia Martinsen is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with 20 years of experience providingtreatment for male and female adolescents.Virginia specializes in treatment for anger management,depression, anxiety, and stress management.She understands the utmost importance of gainingthe client's trust through confidentiality, empathy, and understanding. Virginia completed her Bachelor ofArts (BA) at the New School University in New York and her Master of Science (MS) with specialization inMental Health Counseling at Capella University.She practices cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as motivational interviewing andmindfulness that includes stress reduction with breathing techniques. Over the years, Virginiahas experienced the passing of significant family members and is supportive through the processof grief and mourning. She also enjoys incorporating the clients’ interests (if they choose) intotheir treatment such as journaling, music, poetry, art, books and movies. This is accomplishedwith an emphasis on a client centered approach. Virginia enjoys helping clients identify their strengths and build upon them with skills toincrease a greater sense of well-being. She looks forward to getting to know her clients andestablishing comfortable therapeutic relationships with them!
