My Approach to Helping

If you’re reading this page, you’ve finally had enough, and feel ready to reach out for help. How you feel about yourself doesn’t align with how you’d like to feel, and your relationships aren’t turning out the way you hoped they would.

The uncertainty of the future scares you, so you struggle to live in the present, let alone enjoy it. You worry so much, that you worry about worrying, and you get lost in made-up scenarios of "what ifs..." You get so caught up in controlling how others see and respond to you, that you forget how to be yourself. You’re distracted and detached.

Maybe you aren’t sure if you can trust your own thoughts and emotions. Maybe you aren’t sure how to navigate a big transition in your life. Maybe you grew up feeling afraid of people and the world, and you finally want to thrive rather than just survive. Maybe someone you trusted betrayed you, or you grew up in a home where your family didn't take good care of you.

Maybe you aren’t sure how to ask for what you want, and declare what you need. Past pains still hurt, and you aren’t sure how to heal...You're in the right place! It's my life's passion to help people enhance their quality of life by improving their relationship with themselves, and with other people.

I’ll teach you how to know yourself, understand others, and create the relationships you want. You'll understand the root of your symptoms and learn practical skills on how to manage them. You'll find your voice, and use it confidently. You'll reconnect with others and yourself.

Together, we'll process old pains, and create space for fun and love again! Cultivating a life you love with relationships that nourish you may not be easy, but it can be simple! At Roots Relational Therapy, I will walk with you through the uncertainty and discomfort of branching out in ways you’ve never done before.

You’re not dealing with this alone anymore. We are in this together! Let’s plant some new seeds!

More Info About My Practice

Roots Relational Therapy is 100% online! Contacting me, completing documents, scheduling, and paying for sessions are streamlined to be easy and convenient for you. Sessions are held through a secure online platform via video, phone, or chat sessions.

Unfortunately, I do not accept insurance at this time. Payment must be made via credit card, debit card, HSA, or FSA. A Superbill can be provided for out-of-pocket costs and can be submitted to your insurance provider for partial reimbursement of out-of-network expenses.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Through my thousands of hours of working with couples and individuals, I've come to understand what people who come to therapy need. You are looking for a sounding board where your thoughts and emotions can surface and be explored without judgment. You are looking for a place to untangle your memories, pains, and aspirations, and develop a positive meaning from it all. You are seeking to live authentically, to create real connection with others, and to feel in control of your life.

Most people who work with me have had therapy before -- but something was off...
Either the vibe wasn't right with their last therapist (or last few therapists), and they didn't feel understood at a deep level. Or the therapy itself was too structured or too focused on using short-term methods to solve long-term problems. Kind of like frantically trying to mop-up an over flowing tub, rather than just turning off the faucet. My approach is exploring the roots -- not only of the problems, but the root of who you are.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

If done correctly, therapy isn't always a pleasant process. Before we can get to the best version of ourself, we have to face the not-so-great versions we have been...

The process of therapy is similar to cleaning out a drawer; before it gets better, it gets worse. First, we have to dump everything out in order to sort through what's there. Then, we throw out things that aren't useful anymore, add in things that make sense and can make life easier. The finished product is an organized system that supports sustained, positive change, in a way that feels natural and brings a sense of ease.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Everyone needs a check-up from the neck-up!
