My Approach to Helping

I meet you where you are at each session. I help you identify what issues you want to work on or change and then use Energy Psychology Techniques to help resolve the issue. I teach you Emotional Freedom Techniques or Tapas Acupressure Technique which we use during session and I encourage you to use the techniques between sessions.

More Info About My Practice

I offer individual pay, fee for services only. I do not work with insurance companies. I will, however, provide clients with a statement with the diagnosis codes and procedure codes on it if they wish to submit their expenses for out of network coverage. I also offer pre-paid session discounts for 3 sessions, or 6 sessions, saving the client 10% or 12.5% respectively. In addition I accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express and FSA or HSA cards.

I also provide EAP services for several EAP providers. Please check my web site to find out if I am a provider for your companies EAP.

I work with veterans via the Veterans Stress Project and Give an Hour. Through these projects veterans with PTSD receive sessions free of charge. Veterans with other than PTSD counseling needs receive a reduced fee.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Trauma or PTSD of any nature, Anxiety & Phobias, Smoking Cessation, Depression, Food issues, grief & loss, changing bad habits, negative behaviors and negative belief systems..

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

The short answer here is self-improvement. It's about helping you heal the wounds you have from life experiences, or helping one communicate better.

Other purposes of therapy or counseling (I really don't like the term Psychotherapy as I believe it has a stigma attached to it) is multifaceted. At times it is to help clients identify issues that are having a negative affect on their lives and then helping them resolve those issues.

Sometimes clients come in with well identified issues that they need help resolving or understanding.

My Role as a Therapist

I see myself as a guide, educator, and facilitator, helping you identify, understand and resolve life challenges.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

I primarily use Energy Psychology methods when working with clients. I have found the using modalities like evidence based Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT tapping), Tapas Acupressure Technique, and Allergy Antidotes, helps the client heal quicker and easier when other methods have failed. Additionally, they are free to use the tools between sessions.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Energy Psychology Tools afford the client quicker easier resolution of issues, so clients often spend less time in therapy than those in traditional therapy settings. Some of my clients come every other week and some come every week, depending on their needs and presenting issues. I don't recommend going beyond every other week because one starts to lose continuity, and I am not rigid about it as there are times when circumstances and schedules simply don't allow one showing up every other week!
