My Approach to Helping
My approach to helping others is based on the idea that our relationships, i.e marriage, friendships, and coworkers, have a profound impact on our emotional stability. We learn from the previous generations how to interact with others and if unhealthy patterns are passed down, the probability of instability in future generations is higher. I love to help individuals work through their current narrative on how to relate with others toward creating a new story free from guilt, shame, and blame. Therapy can be a powerful place of acceptance and compassion for not only who we are as individuals, but how we view those around us.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
The therapy process is a very relational experience and having gone through some of the same struggles that my clients are enduring make that connection more valuable. I have walked through depression, anxiety, grief and loss, marital discord, parenting issues, etc. I understand the despair and loneliness that can over take an individual dealing with these issues. I also know the joy and healing that comes when you invest in the process and work toward change. I am passionate about joining with individuals on their journey of healing and hope.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
The therapy world has received a negative connotation, in that, it is reserved for only those who are sick. The truth is, having a non-biased third party give you insight and clarity into not only your behavior, but the behavior of those around you can be a powerful resource. Therapy is something every single person can benefit from and has nothing to do with weakness. As a matter of fact, it is one of the bravest things a person can do. Vulnerability is amazingly powerful and strong and the complete opposite of weak!
