My Approach to Helping
Imagine the sense of relief, as if a burden lifts, a constriction eases, or a longer deeper breath is possible. Because you are sitting with someone who is able to listen deeply to what you say. You feel comfortable and heard. You feel able to gently hold and reveal what needs to be said. My strength is welcoming all that arises with compassion and deep presence as I help you tap into your innate wisdom, to find your way to the solutions and answers you need.
If you find yourself facing one of the many troubles that life throws your way, like grief, loss, depression, anxiety, a life-changing diagnosis, a major transition, or relationship challenges, I can help you find peace as you move through and past it. Everything I do is grounded in the practice of welcoming everything and every one just as they are, deeply present to whatever arises. From that starting point, I use whatever part of my extensive training might be the most useful. I use existential-humanist psychology when you need help making sense of life's big challenges and questions. I use dialectical behavioral therapy to examine the things you do and how you think. I use focusing-oriented psychotherapy to help you feel into what your body knows before your brain does. I use my 30 years of meditation practice and years of teaching meditation and yoga to help us keep returning to ease.
