My Approach to Helping
I’m Licensed Independent Social Worker in Columbus Ohio and see clients throughout the state via telehealth. I work with adults and focus on trauma, anxiety, depression and life stressors. I utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help my clients find understanding, peace and meaning in their lives.
My approach is humanistic, client-centered realizing that everyone is unique and comes to therapy with their own ideas and experiences. It is vital to me that individuals feel safe, heard, and valued in a nonjudgmental space that we create together. I continue to be aware of my own implicit bias to the best of my ability and respect all.
I decided to become a therapist because I’ve always been drawn to helping people. What I have come to learn and understand is people are experts in their own lives and we tap into this knowledge during treatment goals setting.
In our first session, we review how you’ve been feeling recently and what’s bringing you to therapy. This initial session is devoted to us getting to know each other and begin to review at a high level, the things that are important to you in your therapeutic journey.
