My Approach to Helping
Shayra Gonzalez is a bilingual counselor with an Associate Licensure (85408) from Texas State Board under the supervision of Mr. Chris Hansen, PhD., LPC-S. She has gained extensive experience working with adults providing individual and family. She is able to provide counseling services in English and Spanish. She is a dedicated, hardworking and passionate therapist who believes in individualizing treatment to the clients specific needs. Her goal is to meet the clients with empathy, respect, and an open mind during their journey to healing. Her role as a counselor is to encourage, support, and guide her clients toward better self-discovery while creating a safe therapeutic environment for the client. This will help the client to begin to explore their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. She will strive to instill hope in her clients by empowering them to discover and build on their own strengths. During the therapeutic process some changes can be more difficult than others, and she believe therapy can help individuals navigate through difficulties and other life stressors. Shayra utilizes collaborative, strength based Cognitive-Behavioral, mindfulness based, Solution focused approaches to therapy; always maintaining the creativity, flexibility and awareness necessary to best meet the needs of every unique individual and couple.
