My Approach to Helping
Therapy is an empowering and restorative process that can help us heal from traumas and become more resilient. I specialize in working with clients experiencing grief and loss, depression, and addiction or who have experienced trauma, and I have worked with a wide range of other concerns. I offer individual and family counseling for adolescents and young adults. I believe that traumatic experiences are incredibly common but that with the right combination of support and collaborative problem-solving we can overcome even the most devastating of life experiences. I take an empathic but direct approach in therapy to empower and motivate you to be authentic and value your own strengths as you build a greater sense of confidence and self-esteem.
I integrate person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and interpersonal approaches in therapy tailored to the unique needs of each client. I emphasize taking a holistic view to understand how different parts of your life and environment can influence one another. I have training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and have worked as an advocate for sexual assault survivors and to promote trauma education.
