My Approach to Helping

Repetitive dysfunctional patterns of behavior may be affecting your relationships, your job, and certainly your overall self-esteem. Our work together is to first help you find and understand "why" you do certain negative things, or become overly self-critical. I will expose you to effective tools to change the behaviors and patterns that are hindering you, and keeping you from the confidence you'd like to feel about and to your life. By explorating the "why am I the way that I am" questions, I will explore with you toward finding what's been holding you back. In this process, I will provide helpful tools so that your "inner critic" or "inner demons" can be understood, and then managed more healthfully. Together, you will learn to deal with, cope, and place these self-critical elements in their proper perspective going forward. I will introduce you to the helpful elements of CBTDBT and Psychodynamic tools, all with the goal being to help you broaden your own perspective. This is how real changes can then manifest.

I have a well-rounded understanding of the complexities involved in navigating very different worlds. I have owned and operated businesses. I've worked creatively, as both a professional actor and writer in the entertainment industry.

I have a deep passion toward helping others shift out of, and away from, long-standing negative patterns of behavior that have gotten in your way. Working safely together, we will examine what these patterns have been for you and why, with the ultimate goal of realizing you have new choices, leading you toward a more authentic and fulfilling life.

More Info About My Practice

My professional career prior to entering the field of psychology began after I graduated from Boston University's School of Management, earning a BSBA in Finance, with honors. I then worked in a number of different business ventures, and have owned and operated businesses while based in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

I have also had a separate creative career as both a stage and film actor, and as a writer in Theatre and Film, working in both New York City and Los Angeles.

One of the constants of my differing past careers has been the pleasure of communicating and connecting with people, exploring lives in depth, the complexities of the human condition and getting to what matters. My past experiences have informed my life and now enable me to help others with theirs.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I am here to! My focus will be on learning about you and your life, your issues. and being present for what you are feeling in any given moment. As your therapist, I first want you to feel comfortable. As such, I offer a free 15-20 minute initial consultation, wherein we can get a sense of one another. By earning your trust, I hope you will feel comfortable to enter into issues of shame, vulnerability, trauma...or whatever it is that is hindering you. In this trusting environment, together, I look forward to helping you take on and grapple with the seemingly overwhelming issues each of us must face, comprehend, and learn to overcome.
