My Approach to Helping
Do you feel trapped by circumstances beyond your control? Are you unable to escape negative thoughts? Have you forgotten why you made the decisions that led you to this moment? Therapy can be a safe space to catch your breath, to talk out ideas that feel strange or risky, and to devise a new strategy for reconnecting with your best self.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a modern style of therapy that harmonizes the accepted science of behavior with the way that we understand and experience ourselves and our roles in society. We don't always have total control of our thoughts and feelings, but we have the power to act. My treatment style reflects this.
The burden of mental health and neurological disorders is not only the symptoms themselves but the judgement we face at work, at home, and in society at large for being different. Processing those feelings is central to healing and a major part of my practice.
