My Approach to Helping
Do you feel controlled by anxiety or OCD? Are you constantly seeking reassurance or performing rituals to feel better? These disorders operate on what is called a Vicious Cycle: 1) encounter trigger or obsessive thought 2) experience distress 3) engage in compulsions or safety behaviors, which leads to 4) relief. The frustrating part about this cycle is that the relief is short-lived. Before you know it, the obsessive fear and compulsions are back, taking up more time and mental resources to cope.
Treating OCD and Anxiety disorders require specialized training and experience. I have trained under internationally recognized psychologists, Dr. Jenny Yip and Dr. Eda Gorbis. I utilize gold-standard treatments including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness. I have worked with clients at several levels of care, including IOP, PHP, and outpatient. I provide individual and family outpatient treatment for those aged 10+, in person and via telehealth (locally and throughout the state of CA).
In addition to OCD and Anxiety related disorders, I also have extensive experience working with Major Depressive Disorder. Depression can rob you of positive moments, make the simplest of chores feel overwhelming, and change the way you view yourself and your life. My aim is to help you get back to the things you love, improve your outlook on life and help you feel productive once more.
Therapy can be a challenging endeavor. From my own experience as a client and clinical experience as a provider, I try my best to make my clients feel in control and supported along the way. My clinical style is warm, collaborative, and explorative. I am patient yet willing to provide a clinical "push" when necessary as OCD can be pesky. :D
