My Approach to Helping

When my clients first start therapy with me, they feel burnt out and overwhelmed. They are talented, creative and perceptive, but they are running low on energy and motivation, and they have often been fighting a chronic battle against anxiety and depression.

In therapy, you can find balance and increased confidence. We can work through blocks and heal past wounds, and you can begin to live with more energy and courage.

Feedback from therapy clients is that I’m accepting, warm, and perceptive, and therapy with me is both deeply personal and highly actionable. I have a rich tool box of practical skills to share with clients. My clients generally tell me that they feel more in control of their life and their feelings. As physical and emotional health improve, their careers and relationships also get better.

I've been a psychologist for over 20 years, and I treat adults and teens in 30 states via online therapy. I see many creative professionals, and helping people with chronic depression and anxiety is the majority of my practice. Often there is past trauma that we work on healing. A particular specialty is treating people with OCD & phobias.

From the comfort of your own home, we'll work together in online therapy and get you on track to live the creative and joyful life you want.

Groups I Work With

I work with creative professionals who deal with anxiety, chronic depression, and burnout. They are often working hard to stay true to themselves, which feels like they’re swimming against the tide — and it can wear them out.

Why therapy specifically for creatives? As an artist or creative professional, your talent and passion for creativity give you a unique outlet for expressing yourself, processing feelings, and contributing to the world. The more difficult side of creativity is that many artists and creatives feel their feelings acutely.

In therapy with me, you can learn how to better harness your feelings for artistic creation. At the same time, you can learn coping skills to handle the emotions that can be draining or overwhelming.

Your reasons for seeking therapy may or may not be about your creativity. But you reasonably want a therapist who understands the unique issues that can make your artistic life feel unpredictable and stressful. I’ve worked with creatives and artists in therapy for over 20+ years. Also, I can’t stop making things myself. This combination evolved into a deeply rewarding specialty.
