My Approach to Helping
I believe insight and understanding are key to living a rich and fulfilling life. Hi, I'm Rebecca, and for over a decade I have been supporting people's healing journeys. I help individuals overcome anxiety, depression, and trauma; helping develop self compassion, navigate family and relationship dynamics, establish boundaries, and reclaim their personal power. This leads into clients having the relationships with others or themselves they’ve been hoping for.
Through the use of traditional talk therapy approaches including Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Jungian approaches, Psychoanalytic Therapy approaches, and Mindfulness-based Therapy I help guide clients through their own personal therapeutic transformation. I have two masters-level clinical counselling degrees. I am a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist (MSWRSW); I am also a dream analyst
For a decade I have had experience in treating:
-Anxiety, depression, and trauma
-Navigating relationship issues
-Women’s issues and experiences
More specifically, some of these above areas may include the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, mild or major depression, panic attacks, phobias, ocd, and generalized anxiety. As well as working with anxious or insecure attachment styles in relationships, feelings of emptiness, feelings of neglect, anger, personal boundary concerns, address burnout, assertiveness, body image, low mood, self-soothing difficulty, misuse of alcohol or substances, and low self esteem. This is not an exhaustive list but covers several of the areas I have supported clients around.
I provide a variety of different approaches to help clients face their challenges in their own unique way. I am honoured your journey has brought you to Smart Therapy. I am excited to learn about you, and I feel privileged to hear your story, and to support your empowerment and healing.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Deciding to go to a therapy session takes a lot of courage- it doesn't matter if it's your first session ever or your hundredth, it's daunting to know you are going to spend the next 50 minutes just talking about yourself, and generally talking about things that might be difficult to explore. It involves a lot of vulnerability, and tolerating being in that state to a certain degree. I am always impressed by people's courage in choosing to seek out therapy.
