My Approach to Helping
Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over ten years of experience in mental health. My clinical focus is helping adolescents and adults with trauma, depression, anxiety, and interpersonal conflicts. I believe in a strength focused, whole person approach and prioritize meeting individuals where they are at on their personal journeys.
I have training in trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I primarily practice from a whole person, multi-system approach designed to understand and work through the many challenges we face with our daily roles and responsibilities.
I have extensive experience with adolescents and adults working to overcome difficulties with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship conflicts, and trauma.
I like to promote open, honest, and supportive environments that build from my clients strengths. I believe therapy should be a collaborative, but client directed effort.
I started my journey into mental health in 2005 when I began working at an inpatient mental health hospital. I continued my work there for ten years while I completed my undergraduate and graduate education. While there I worked with a vast array of populations and mental health conditions. I was most struck by the compassion these individuals continued to have for others even when they were at some of their most vulnerable points. I am driven to help people through their personal struggles and overcoming trauma. I believe everyone deserves to feel unconditionally loved and supported.
Therapeutic goals should be guided by and agreed on by the client.
During initial session I believe it is essential to complete a multi-system assessment to understand where the client is emotionally, mentally, and physically. We will discuss any catalysts for starting therapy services in addition to establishing their personal goals.
