My Approach to Helping

Do you ever feel like it's your own brain that's making life so much harder? Your mind is automatically presenting you with every possible worst case scenario while you’re just trying to enjoy your life. Maybe you're experiencing unwanted thoughts or memories that scare you and make you feel out of control. It's true, sometimes our brains turn on us and make it hard to get through the day. It can feel impossible to cope with the challenges of life while managing loud and painful thoughts. We can feel isolated, anxious, hopeless and miserable. I want to tell you that you are not alone, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Maybe you are hoping to heal and grow, maybe you are really needing some relief. No matter where we start, it is my goal to create a nurturing, and safe space for us to work together as we address your unique needs. I use evidenced-based treatment modalities (IFS, ACT, EMDR) that not only help to restore a sense of balance, but also inspire lasting change.

I am committed to walking along side you with compassion and unconditional acceptance as we reclaim your life and rediscover your identity!

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Sometimes we need to go to the doctor when we are injured or sick. We can get over minor scratches or a cold on our own but things like broken bones or infections require professional help to treat and heal. The same is true of psychological and emotional issues! Often we are able to heal from a difficult circumstance and loss on our own. However, sometimes adverse life experiences "wound" our nervous system and the neural networks in our brain. We begin to experience depression, anxiety, emotional pain and intrusive thoughts. In the same way a doctor can provide treatment to promote healing and ease pain, therapists know how to treat a wounded mind. You wouldn't expect yourself to handle a broken leg on your own. It's not up to you to handle trauma, grief, and mental illness on your own either.
