My Approach to Helping
Hello! I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Rachel Alvarez. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. I have a strong background in mental health and substance abuse treatment, and I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective support to individuals and families navigating challenges. My goal is to help clients achieve lasting positive change through evidence-based practices and personalized care.
As a Therapist, I approach goal setting through a collaborative client-centered process. I will first focus on building rapport and open communication so that I can work with the client to identify their strengths, values, and aspirations as they relate to setting attainable goals.
More Info About My Practice
During an initial session with me, my clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where they feel safe to share their emotions and concerns. We will start by discussing what brought them to therapy and any specific issues or goals they may currently have. I will ask questions to better understand their background, current situation, and what they are hoping to achieve during our time together. My main goal during the first session is to begin building a therapeutic rapport and gain a clear understanding of how, together, we can begin the journey toward positive change.
Goals will be created through a collaborative client-centered process. Open communication is welcomed so that I can work with the client to identify their strengths, values, and aspirations as they relate to setting attainable goals. Setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals is imperative, and throughout this process, I would be sure to provide support, encouragement, and accountability during sessions. I would be sure to review and adjust goals as needed to reflect the client’s progress or any new evolving needs.
