My Approach to Helping
I have faith in the person coming into therapy and their ability to find their stuck points, enhance their strengths, and to be the person they were created to be. I first establish an understanding of why they are coming to me 'now', so that we can start working on parts of their lives where they have the most concerns. I ask what they hoping for in therapy and how they hope to change. I am looking for how I can help this person by assessing how long the problem has been there and whether this problem had occurred at other times. I may recommend reading or homework that seeks to help them understand their stuck points and choices they have made. I want to honor their integrity and their life journey. I will help them find their strengths and/or opening pathways to their strengths.
