What's My Approach to Therapy?

Hi, I’m Nigel Edokpolo (hehim), a therapist at MindFirst Therapy. I identify as a member of the BIPOC community, with Nigerian, Scottish, and Irish roots. My approach to therapy is grounded, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe that healing looks different for everyone, and I’m here to support you, whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity struggles, or simply feeling stuck. Clients often describe me as understanding, humorous, and empathic. I strive to bring warmth, honesty, and even a little lightness to the therapy room, because I know that working through life’s toughest moments doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. Therapy doesn’t mean your problems are small, it means you’re brave enough to seek support. As a Black male therapist, I understand how identity, masculinity, and cultural expectations can shape our emotional experiences. You don’t have to go through it alone. We’ll work together in a safe, non-judgmental space, building a relationship where you feel seen, respected, and empowered.
