My Approach to Helping

Dr. Moller continues to provide a broad spectrum of psychological services during the COVID-19 Pandemic. In order to safeguard patients during the pandemic, Dr. Moller is utilizing HIPAA Compliant telemedicine (electronic audiovideo connection using cellular phones andor computers via Doxy.Me). Telemedicine is a widely used, effective model for delivering psychological services.

I have been working in the mental health field for over 25 years. The one truth that I have learned is that Therapy is not a "one size fits all" endeavor. People are unique. They come to therapy with different problems and are often best helped with therapy approaches that are most easily incorporated into their lives. To this end, I tend to use an ecclectic approach and collaborate with clients in therapy-drawing on a wide range of approaches to best suit the unique needs of each individual client.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Trauma, along with the depression and anxiety that often accompany traumas. I believe that reactions to traumas are often misunderstood, with clients somehow expected to "get better" in unrealistically short periods of time. Serious traumas commonly involve something of a ripple effect on a persons life, altering their ability to cope with additional stressors as well as impacting their mood and their relationships with other people. Helping clients to understand the impact of their experiences as well as gradually working with them to regain a greater sense of control in their lives are central features to working with clients who have experienced serious trauma(s).
