My Approach to Therapy

Healing rarely happens in a straight line — and in my experience, it almost always happens in relationship. Whether you're working through something painful with a partner or trying to understand yourself more clearly on your own, I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is where change begins. I bring warmth, curiosity, and a willingness to sit with what's hard without rushing past it. I draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, and psychodynamic, existential, and attachment-based approaches for individuals. When it's useful, I integrate music therapy, Guided Imagery and Music, and mandala work — depth-oriented tools that can access emotion and insight in ways that conversation alone sometimes can't. These are always optional and always in service of your goals. Twenty years of hospice work taught me that people are more resilient than they know — and that being truly heard is one of the most powerful things one person can offer another. That's what I try to provide in every session.

My Practice & Services

I work with couples, individuals, and teens, with a focus on relationships in all their complexity. This includes traditional and LGBTQ+ partnerships, polyamorous and non-traditional structures, infidelity and trust repair, divorce and separation, and individuals working to understand their relational patterns. I also specialize in grief. Two decades of hospice work gave me a deep foundation in loss, including the kind that comes with relationships ending, identities shifting, and lives that look different than planned. If you are carrying something that has not lifted, this is a space where that is welcome.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I became a therapist because I believe in the power of genuine human connection, and I have seen what changes when someone finally feels understood. Two decades in hospice taught me that people are more resilient than they realize, and that being present with someone in their hardest moments matters. What I love most is the moment something shifts. Sometimes it is a couple finally hearing each other after years of talking past one another. Sometimes it is recognizing a pattern that has been shaping your life. Sometimes it is allowing yourself to feel and process a loss you have been carrying alone. Every person brings a unique story, and I approach that with curiosity and care. I may incorporate music, imagery, or other creative approaches when they are helpful, but the focus is always on helping you move forward in a way that feels real and meaningful.
