My Approach to Helping
I have experience working in community-based programs and government agencies, including a mobile mental health crisis unit, domestic violence programs, a VA medical center, inpatient psychiatric services, and medical social work. Since 2018, I’ve been in private practice, continuing to build on these diverse clinical experiences.
I specialize in assessing and treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodevelopmental conditions such as attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) and Level 1 autism. I am especially committed to supporting individuals from historically marginalized communities and those impacted by systemic oppression and identity-based harm. My work is grounded in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed approach that centers your unique lived experiences.
I understand how trauma—whether personal, systemic, or both—can impact mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. In our work together, we’ll explore the mind-body connection and its role in healing. Therapy will focus on helping you reclaim your life by building resilience, managing symptoms, and creating more adaptive meaning from past experiences. Together, we’ll work toward developing new neural pathways that support more positive and empowering ways of living.
More Info About My Practice
My practice is grounded in a trauma-informed approach that honors the impact of past experiences while supporting clients in building safety, empowerment, and resilience in the present. I integrate eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) as a powerful intervention to help clients process distressing memories, reduce emotional reactivity, and shift the way trauma is stored in the body and mind.
Trauma-informed care in my practice means that I prioritize collaboration, choice, trust, and autonomy in the therapeutic relationship. I recognize the ways trauma—particularly complex, systemic, and identity-based trauma—can affect a person’s nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where clients can explore their experiences, reconnect with their inner strengths, and move toward meaningful change at your own pace.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
While I incorporate evidence-based approaches like EMDR and trauma-informed care, I believe that the foundation of effective therapy lies in the relationship between client and therapist. Research shows that the quality of the therapeutic alliance?not any one treatment method?is one of the strongest predictors of meaningful change.
In my work, I focus on creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and respected. Building trust, safety, and collaboration is essential to the healing process. I meet clients where they are, honoring their unique identities, experiences, and personal pace. Therapy is not something done to someone?it?s a shared process, shaped together. A strong therapeutic connection can support deep healing, self-discovery, and long-lasting growth.
