My Approach to Helping
My belief is that people gain a sense of satisfaction with their lives when they make conscious decisions. Conscious decision-making- thinking through choices and consequences and making a deliberate, reasoned choice- helps people feel more in control of their lives, so they are less likely to feel depressed, anxious or overwhelmed.
I help people slow down their thought process so they can consider all their choices and the consequences of each choice, make conscious decisions, and live with the outcome of each decision (even if it wasn't the "best" decision they could make!).
I apply this philosophy to parenting, as well as everyday life. When parents think clearly about their parenting strategies and pay careful attention to what works and what doesn't, they can decrease the conflict in their home, improve the quality of their relationships with their spouse and children, and increase feelings of contentment and satisfaction for the entire family. As the parent of a very strong-willed child, I can tell you that a calm, assertive, confident parenting style can work wonders!
