My Approach to Helping
In my fifteen years of practice I have been able to help many clients suffering from anxiety and depression particularly when those symptoms are rooted in issues that began in their family of origin. I have been successful helping people gain awareness of and heal what I call trauma points that are sensitive areas that are activated or triggered by current events and cause our reactions to be out of proportion with what is actually happening in the here and now.
I enjoy working with couples and helping them move forward in their commitment to the relationship and with married couples to help reconnect, renew and restore relationships. I work with individual clients to help improve their relationships and support people who are in couples therapy with other therapists. I offer an an extensive education piece on finding partners including identification of red flags, first date checklist, non-starters and core values. I introduce people to the essentials of attachment style and the role attachment plays in creating satisfying relationships.
I support clients in learning how to set healthy boundaries through assertive communication skills in all their relationships-- family, friends, romantic partners, coworkers. I enjoy working with people with high stress jobs helping them create a work-life balance while remaining aspirational in their careers. I enjoy working with mothers who are spread too thin and consumed with "mom guilt" even thought they are going above and beyond for their children (and everywhere else in their lives!).
Life transitions are another specialty. They are stressful and hard and can be scary but they are often how we grow in life.
The care I provide is evidence-based and thoughtfully curated to meet the individual needs of each of my clients. I believe I am a great therapist to introduce someone to therapy and I have also been successful in helping people who have been to therapy go deeper and resolve the harder, often hidden, issues underneath.
