My Approach to Helping
Are you sick and tired of feeling stuck in your sex life? Do you sometimes miss the old days when you first met and couldn’t wait to get each other’s clothes off? Are you or your partner feeling shut down sexually? You’re not alone. My name is Lori and I specialize in helping couples who are struggling with mismatched desire for sex.
As a sex counselor with specializations in trauma and couples therapy, I have the skills you need to navigate beyond the blocks that have kept you and your partner running around in the same old circles. I will provide the structure, guidance and encouragement you both need to make lasting change so that you can have the sex lives and relationships you long for.
If you're ready to get un-stuck and create a sex life that really works for both of you, I encourage you to reach out to me. Give me a call or send a quick email and we can schedule a time to chat to see if working together is a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
In addition to working with couples, I also work with individuals with pain with sex, low desire, orgasm problems, erectile or ejaculatory difficulties, and shame around alternative sexual interests. Feel free to reach out if you are wondering if working together would be a good fit.
My Therapy Focus
I combine my experience as a nurse practitioner in sexual medicine with expertise as a certified sex counselor to bring you the truly mind-body support needed to create lasting change. My counseling approach is deeply informed by sexological principles and research; the neurobiology of trauma, attachment, and memory reconsolidation; parts work and focusing; and the wisdom of relational mindfulness. My goal is to offer you the time, space and support needed so that you can tune into your body and learn from it what is needed for you to create greater safety, flow, vulnerability and connection with yourself and your partner.
As a couples counselor, I believe deeply in the power of relationships to provide a space for growth and healing. However, most of us were never taught the skills of relationality and will find ourselves stuck in cycles of avoidance, conflict, superficiality, or even despair. Fortunately, deep relational rehab is possible - you might just need a little help.
My practice is based in Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing, Ann Weiser Cornell's Inner Relationship Focusing and Terry Real's Relational Life Therapy. I love fielding questions, so feel free to reach out!
