My Approach to Helping
Grappling with overwhelming anxiety, debilitating mood swings, or the lingering effects of trauma and loss can make us feel incredibly isolated. Under the weight of our suffering, we may lose touch with others and lose sight of ourselves. I work with clients who recognize the complexities of their emotional landscape and seek guidance in navigating through their mental health challenges. They yearn to break free from the grip of their past experiences and create a life filled with meaning, purpose, and connection to themselves and others.
As a therapist specializing in mood and anxiety disorders, grief, trauma, and addiction, I offer an integrative approach to healing. Drawing primarily from principles of acceptance and commitment (ACT), cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions, we work together to challenge deeply rooted, often unhelpful beliefs about our emotional experiences. We examine the ways in which efforts to control or suppress our emotions can be self-defeating, causing our struggle to intensify. Together, we begin charting a new path of emotional openness. My goal is to help clients access, understand, and communicate their emotions and the needs associated with them, creating a sense of empowerment and ease as they navigate life’s inevitable challenges. I have a particular interest in working with professionals who strive to uphold an outward appearance of success in spite of significant internal distress. In other words, these are individuals who have been labeled as “high achievers”, and the internalized pressure to continue on this path leads to perfectionistic patterns.
It can be difficult to take that first step, and I invite you to do so anyway. Together, we can create a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your emotions, confront your past traumas, and embrace new ways of living that align with your values and aspirations. We weren’t meant to navigate our struggles alone. Reach out today, and let’s begin this work together.
