My Approach to Helping

I am a licensed clinical social worker, LCSW, based in Jacksonville, Florida, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. Do you feel overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed in this life season of life? Are you ready to figure out how to bring peace of mind back to your everyday life? I get it. I've been there. Over the last 15 years, I have helped many others who have been there, too. I utilize evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, strength-based therapy, and mindfulness techniques to help clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and major life changes.

"My style and approach are a good fit for individuals who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions such as adjusting to new worklife balance, coping with the challenges of being a parent, as well as changes in relationships. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and to build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life." My communication style is calm, compassionate, and caring. I want my clients to know and feel that our sessions are a safe space in which they can comfortably share their concerns without judgment and know they will always receive open and honest feedback from me.

Since I was a young child, I have always been drawn to a career where I can help others. After I graduated with my bachelor's degree in social work, I worked as a child welfare social worker. After several years in that position, I realized that my heart was drawn to providing therapeutic support to individuals rather than writing case plans and attending court hearings. I went back to school to earn my master's degree in social work so that I would have the opportunity to provide direct counseling services to my clients. Over the last 15 years, I have had the privilege to walk aside and support individuals from all walks of life as they journey through some of the most difficult times in their lives. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best versions of themselves.

My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together. This often starts by building trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Over time, we'll work together to set goals and track your progress."

What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you've been feeling recently and for me to ask questions to understand better some of why you may feel that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get a sense of where we should go from there. Everyone is different, and I like to listen before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.
