My Approach to Helping
My goal is not to keep you in therapy as long as possible, but instead to help you develop tools to navigate your struggles most effectively and essentially become your own therapist. I have over 10 years of experience in the field of mental health and currently own a private practice as a psychotherapist in Florida. I understand that each person and situation is unique, and adapt my approach to help most effectively.
I have experience treating clients with a wide range of concerns. Some issues I treat include depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, stress, addiction, personality disorders, mood disorders and behavioral issues. I have worked with people of many different racial, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and strive to tailor my approach to each individual person's needs and circumstances. I I help people process their emotions surrounding various life situations in therapy.
I love helping and truly care about others. You will feel the warmth and compassion in my approach. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I don't focus on negative labeling or solely on diagnosis. Instead, I focus on helping people understand their emotional concerns, make peace with their feelings and assist them in healing and implementing useful solutions.
My approach is holistic and combines cognitive-behavioral therapy (a focus on the connection between thoughts, feelings and behavior) and dialectical-behavioral therapy (practical techniques for learning mindfulness, improving interpersonal relationships, regulating emotion and tolerating distress). I also utilize some motivational interviewing techniques (helping individuals struggling with making decisions and those dealing with addiction) and draw from psychoanalytic theory to explore how unconscious forces and childhood experiences may be impacting peoples lives presently.
I also address the mind body connection by teaching relaxation and breathwork techniques. A major focus of my work also involves helping people to build more positive relationships with themselves. Every person benefits from a slightly different technique. I take the time to get to know people and equip them with the tools which will be most helpful to them.
I will tailor our conversations, and your treatment, to meet your unique and specific needs. We will focus on what you want to, in order to get you feeling better as quickly and sustainably as possible.
