My Approach to Helping
I feel that therapy should be focused around helping each individual client meeting their own personal best. I combine multiple different therapy modalities to meet the individual needs of each client. I also feel that there is a strong mind-body connection that must be nurtured as part of therapy.
More Info About My Practice
I have been in practice for 12 years and I have just opened up my own private practice. My website is under construction however if you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
My favorite part about what I do is watching people display pride in themselves over their personal growth. My role is not to offer advice, but to offer guidance to help you reach your personal best. The beauty in that is that once people achieve their desired goal, they can take 100% of the credit for all the hard work involved to get to that goal.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Me too! I have certainly encountered my share of poor clinicians in both my personal and professional life. Due to this, I always encourage my clients to be open and honest with me as to how they are feeling about therapy. Sometimes another therapist may be a better fit, and that is OK! Also, I think the "little things" are important - do you like the brand of Kleenex? Is the temperature in the room OK? Are the chairscouches comfortable? Are you annoyed or pleased at the selection of magazines in the waiting room? Do I wear a perfume that bothers your nose? These are the things that can make or break therapy and I encourage my clients to inform me of concerns. I am not (and never will be) above making my own positive changes - who knows, maybe if you hate the Kleenex so does everyone else! I am always willing to be accommodating to the best of my ability, it is a very important part of the client - therapist relationship.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
As human beings we are not born with coping skills, and most of us have encountered events along the way that have caused us to develop poor coping skills to deal with the pain caused by that event. I feel that everyone could benefit from therapy. I know the personal growth I have experienced through my own therapy throughout my life and my hope for my clients is that they experience continued personal growth through therapy.
