My Approach to Helping
My name is Shana and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with several years of experience working with individuals from all walks of life. A few things about me, I'm a born and raised Houstonian, I have a German shepherd that's my "baby boy," I love music, dancing, and planning parties. My family is very important to me and I love traveling.
I would be happy to support you in addressing any issues that are causing distress in your life and collaboratively we can work together to explore and identify ways to feel better. I believe that life can be challenging at times but we must be accepting of those challenges, and choose to keep moving forward, savoring the journey. I'm here to help you along that journey.
Therapy is an inviting place where every single part of you is welcome, it can be scary, uncomfortable, and overwhelming at times talking to someone you don't know, but I would like to assure you that this is all a part of the process to heal and grow. Having a strong therapeutic alliance is important to me and I want you to know that this is a nonjudgmental safe space.
My therapy approach is client-centered and the treatment modalities I prefer to use are cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused, and motivational interviewing.
As a therapist, I'm honored you chose this process as your vehicle for healing and growth.
