My Approach to Helping
My social work philosophy is strengths-based and holistic. I care deeply about my clients and their mental health and wellbeing. You are not your symptoms. I see you as a whole human being and believe my role is to understand what makes you who you are and what you are needing to heal, grow and live well. I approach working with people through a psychodynamic and social justice lens. I’m curious about how both nature and nurture shape what we feel, think and do in our lives and try to bring more awareness to what you are experiencing on both the inside and on the outside to see if we can identify root causes of your suffering. Like many therapists, I draw from multiple frameworks and tools based on what you are needing and wanting and what I think could be useful and effective. I will guide us in our work together, but often follow your lead and aim to be flexible and adapt as the process unfolds. We’ll collaborate and communicate throughout about therapy and what you are needing. Your feedback is key to a successful therapeutic process and healing, so I invite your experience, thoughts and feelings about therapy with me too.
