My Approach to Helping
Hi! I am Kristin. I hold masters degrees in clinical mental health counseling, speech-language pathology, and transformational leadership. Through my years as a speech-therapist and pastor, I have learned to listen to client's concerns, experiences, and perspectives, which enriches my skills as a mental health counselor.I love working with clients to identify areas where they are stuck in their lives, be it personally, relationally, or professionally. By developing a solid relationship with clients and using emotionally focused therapy and trauma-informed care, I help clients experience healing, growth, movement, and a sense of empowerment. I look forward to working with you!
More Info About My Practice
I work at Relationship Works in Buffalo Grove, IL, which is a group practice. I have an amazing team that provides me with a sense of support, guidance, and ongoing development. I am working toward certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy, which is a modality I use for individuals and couples. What is most important to me is to work with clients in a way that they find beneficial, so I welcome honest feedback from my clients on a regular basis. I also provide HIPAA-compliant therapy via Zoom.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
I participate in counseling as a regular part of my self-care and personal growth. I know the anxiety that comes from meeting with an unfamiliar person and trusting them with vulnerable stories and challenges. It has brought me much healing and has also given me an increased sense of compassion and awareness for the clients that I see on a regular basis. Therefore, I see the client as the expert on hishertheir own life. I work to build an open, honest relationship with my clients so that sessions are tailored to their unique needs and personalities.
