My Approach to Helping
Are you looking to try something different? Curious about incorporating art or creative expression into sessions? Blank Canvas Art Therapy is a collaborative space to engage and process emotions and experiences in an accessible and creative way. Art therapy is about discovering your own way of using art or creative expression as a meaningful tool for personal insight and self-growth, and I can help you discover and utilize those tools. You absolutely do no need art materials or any formal skills to do art therapy. Typical sessions tend to have a combination of both art and talk therapy and can be tailored to your needs.
I typically work with adults (18 and older) who are seeking support with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, bereavement, and life transitions. I believe in developing authentic and trusting relationships with clients, and I work collaboratively with them to achieve their goals, develop effective coping skills, and highlight inner resiliency.
As an art therapist and mental health counselor, I believe in the healing qualities of mark-making and using creative materials as a tool to facilitate deeper understanding of ourselves and experiences.
