My Approach to Helping

Most likely you are here because there is some experience that is holding you back from living with the level of happiness and satisfaction that you are seeking. Life presents challenges that can sometimes overwhelm our ability to respond effectively. It is my belief that each "symptom" of body or mind has something to communicate to us and my job is to help you listen to the wisdom of the challenges you are experiencing in a curious, non-judgmental way so that you can move toward living life to your greatest capacity. I am passionate about helping the people I work with to develop healthier strategies for working with overwhelming experiences.

Even if you have tried therapy before, I encourage you to reach out. In my care, you will find a safe, collaborative, non-judgmental, compassionate guide who is a firm believer in the power of effective therapy.

More Info About My Practice

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified somatic experiencing practitioner. My style and my appreciation for the body/mind dynamic is influenced by more than 15 years of training and experience in mindfulness and yoga as well as my own personal experience in therapy. My passion for Somatic Experiencing led me through the 3 year certification program in which I have seen my own nervous system transform in a way that helps me to be more present to my own emotional experiences and to the experiences of those I work with.

I employ a variety of techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, somatic experiencing, mindfulness, and EMDR. My expertise lies in treating issues associated with sadness, overwhelming experiences, relationship challenges, adjusting to motherhood, personal growth, and sexuality.

I am compassionate, grounded, direct, and determined to help you become unstuck. I am committed to helping you to transform behavioral patterns which keep you feeling stuck so that you are able to find more fulfillment in your relationship to yourself, your purpose, and to others.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

While I believe in the benefit of evidence based treatments there is no more important aspect to successful therapy than the working relationship we will develop during our time together.

My confidence in the effects of the therapuetic relationship stems from my own relationships with a few wonderful therapists over the years, the most recent of which has lasted for a decade. The benefits of that relationship have been life changing and continue to affirm and enhance my belief in the transformational power of this work.

The ability to develop an effective therapeutic relationship is based on trust, curiosity and authenticity. I wholeheartedly enjoy getting to know the unique individuals I have the opportunity to work with. You will find that I am committed, curious and dedicated to helping you to meet your goals in a collaborative way and at a pace that is comfortable for you.
