My Approach to Helping
The first major priority in taking the courageous steps towards seeking help is finding a treatment provider that you can connect with. Therapy is not always an easy process. Often it is a space that we approach intentionally to examine how we interact with ourselves and the world around us. As you create this space to grow and heal, you will be doing so with your therapist on your side. My approach to treatment is client centered; I view my clients as the best experts in their lives while we take on problems in a nonjudgmental and solution focused manner.
My treatment approach is humanistic, trauma informed, and based in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR. I specialize in trauma, co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, sexual violence, and mood disorders. My experience covers wilderness, forensic, outpatient, crises, and long term residential care settings.
I always invite my clients to "shop around" until they find the right fit. Therapy is an investment of energy, time and money and it is important to have a good connection before embarking into a commitment as powerful as therapy together. I invite potential clients to a free televideo consultation so that we can get to know each other.
