My Approach to Helping
Supervisor Philosophy: I feel that it is important to set parameters at the beginning of supervision: clarify and explore potential problems that may create an impasse in supervisee's work. It is important to create a safe learning environment that helps the supervisee become successful in fulfilling their required supervision hours and goals.
Orientation: Eclectic approach based on client's needs with emphasis on behaviorism, gestalt and person centered treatment. Strength based psychology strongly influences approaches as well.
Experience: Past experience working with domestic violence, drug and alcohol treatments, anxiety and depression. Currently working with adolescent to young adult population who experience SED both in family therapy and individual sessions. Also working with adult DD population in individual and family therapy. I am also a Board Approved Professional Counselor Supervisor.
I find working with supervisees to be a rewarding experience. I feel I have benefited from assisting others transition their education into the development of their own therapeutic style.
