What's My Approach to Therapy?
Jean-Paul Sartre said, "Freedom is what you do with what has been done to you." We all have had things done to us. These things do not define us; the key is what we do with them afterward. I believe each and every person has what they need right inside of them; thus, my job is not to fix or change, but to teach the skills to help you tap into that inner source. The answers you are looking for are available and can be found.
Have you been in talk therapy before, but feel like you're still struggling? Do you know what you want to say, but find yourself reacting instead? Do you sometimes get triggered, feeling you're not good enough, you've done something wrong, you're too much, or a bother, or _______, even though you cognitively know it's not true? You are not alone. I combine talk therapy with the latest neuroscience to help create lasting change and relief. To do this, I pull from an eclectic background of therapies to treat the whole system and address what is called bottom-up hijacking, often referred to as the famous fight, flight, freeze, or fawn system.
As a therapist, I create a supportive, respectful environment where a person can feel safe sharing their thoughts and struggles, with the biggest factor being nonjudgmental!
