My Approach to Helping
Life can be challenging. My aim is to provide a safe place for clients to face those challenges and recognize their capacity for resilience.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Denver. Prior to my work in outpatient counseling, I worked with children and adolescents to enhance their emotional well-being and improve their academic performance. I have worked with diverse client populations in a variety of settings including community based, residential care, crisis intervention, domestic violence shelters, and school systems. I am a trauma-engaged, strengths-based clinician with 8+ years of experience working with adjustment issues across the lifespan, emotional distress, problematic relationship patterns, family-related stress, and trauma. I have completed additional training in the following areas: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), crisis prevention and response, befriending stress, domestic violence resolution, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practice, grounding techniques, secondary trauma resolution, and Restorative Practices. I use these skills to foster growth and healing with my clients.
In additon to helping clients, I also provide supervision for pre-licensed counselors as well.
