My Approach to Helping
Hi, my name is Jennifer and my pronouns are shethey. I'm a collaborative therapist that emphasizes empathy, curiosity and authenticity. My clients want a collaborative and affirming therapeutic relationship based in trust, safety, transparency, and growth. We process trauma, identify shame, build self-worth, and develop self-love. We examine struggle in relationships and explore how to effectively identify and communicate our feelings, needs, and boundaries. Some goals could include working through internalized shame, increasing emotional availability, improving emotional regulation, exploring identity, improving self-esteem, decreasing anxiety, processing trauma, building a support system, and decreasing symptoms of depression.
More Info About My Practice
My approach is trauma-aware and integrative using client-centered, psychodynamic and existential philosophies. I strive to create safety, honor equality, and build inclusion for all people. I help clients develop insight, meaningful relationships, greater purpose, and adaptability from an affirming and holistic, biopsychosocial and multicultural perspective.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
I remind my clients nothing in the past or present that they have experienced, thought, felt, said, or done that could change my care, empathy, and support for them. I am their ally walking side-by-side throughout the darkest pathways and I am the first to congratulate them when they savor their successes. Our alliance is truly a unique partnership where the client does not have to worry, consider, or caretake for me. Even when our work together is done, I consider myself their therapist always.
