My Approach to Helping
Coming from an attachment lens, I see the relationships we form today as having a lot to do with the safety we felt growing up. It's where we learned how to connect.
I also see ourselves as being made up of many parts. Getting to know these aspects of your personality may help you lean into what you want. It may help you sense more clearly how you want to deal with the challenges you are facing. If it's hard to connect to what it is you want, it may be a matter of reconnecting those parts that got silenced long ago. As your therapist, I work to help you align with your core values and figure out what resonates for you so that your life can feel more congruent. The aspects of your personality that are protective, or hiding, deserve respect, compassion, and room to breathe.
I utilize the philosophies behind Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, Psychodynamic and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), along with CBT to uncover those tricky, limiting beliefs that may be holding you back. We work on boundary setting, address unprocessed wounds or Traumas, and challenge any overarching cultural norms dictating who you "should" be. This way, you can find a little more internal freedom & take up a little (or a lot) more space in your own life.
