My Approach to Helping
I have suffered from anxiety since childhood. As I began my healing journey, I became interested in learning more about how mental health impacts overall well-being and learning about a holistic approach to healing. I also became very interested in learning about the effects of trauma and chronic stress and how these things can present in the body and our lives. On my journey, I participated in talk therapy and experienced how healing therapy can be. Through my social work education, I have learned various therapeutic skills to enhance my ability to assist individuals set goals for themselves, working through challenges, becoming more comfortable with vulnerability, gaining confidence in themselves, develop awareness and understanding of how the experiences we have impact us, implement mindfulness practices, and help support growth, self-actualization, and healing. This is my hope for my clients.
More Info About My Practice
I believe in equitable and accessible mental health services for all people. I previously worked for the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island, NY, as a case manager and outreach coordinator. There I assisted vulnerable populations with accessing needed services and support during challenging life circumstances and transitions. I also had the opportunity to provide individual and group counseling to the caregivers of terminally ill loved ones. It is my belief all people should have access to support services that help individuals manage and mitigate the negative health, functional, and relational impacts associated with chronic stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, isolation, and other life stressors and challenges.
Clients can do their best work when they feel safe and supported. By allowing clients to take the lead, while reflecting on what clients are expressing, experiencing, and feeling, the client is able to gain perspective and increase awareness.
