My Approach to Helping
Life can throw a lot at us. Sometimes there is just too much at once. Things get complicated and then we become overwhelmed. Worries always nagging at us. Seems we are always tired. It's tough to stay focused. Everything becomes an uphill battle. Feeling irritable or getting angry over little things that never used to be an issue. Relationship suffer. Try to talk and they don't understand! Things begin to feel hopeless. Nothing seems enjoyable anymore, just feel numb.
If some of this sounds familiar, there are ways to make changes. Therapy can help. Sometimes you need someone by your side who has training and has helped hundreds of people through this before.
I work to help people learn practical skills so that life is more fulfilling and less of a struggle. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is one approach that can be very helpful. We use CBT to change unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. We work together to change negative thinking patterns, and this helps you feel better.
In Couples Counseling, we will identify and stop hurtful patterns. Couples learn healthy ways to communicate, resolve conflicts, and work toward common goals. Married couples often stay stuck in resentment and bitterness for years - there's no need to keep doing this. Start enjoying your lives together again!

My Therapy Focus
The focus of my work as a therapist is helping people identify choices in how they think and behave, and helping them learn strategies to make these changes. People learn to have more fulfilling relationships, make themselves happy, and feel more in control. The therapy process can help you gain insight and find new ways forward when you are feeling stuck.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
You have most likely been thinking about going to therapy for a while now. People usually wait, thinking things will work themselves out. Having an experienced therapist can help you tackle problems more quickly and effectively. It helps to have an expert who's been down this road before. Also, a therapist is someone you can trust who you can say anything to.
I am not the perfect therapist for everyone. Our Free Phone Consult will give us both time to ask some questions. Later, during our first session session, we will discuss your history, talk about what's challenging right now, and identify your goals. I will explain what the process will look like moving forward. You don't have to know what to say at first and usually we don't have enough time to get to everything in the first hour.
Therapy is an investment in your long-term well being. Most people benefit from therapy in 8-12 sessions. However, usually these changes are long term. Changes you make now can effect the rest of your life for the better!
