My Approach to Helping
Life is stressful. Often we can get through difficulties on our own, if things are simple. However, life can be complicated and then we are suddenly overwhelmed by life and relationships. Sometimes there is just too much at once. Worry becomes a full time job. Energy is lacking. It is hard to stay focused. Everything becomes an uphill battle. You may be feeling irritable or getting angry over little things. Relationships become strained. Communication seems to make things worse! If you are experiencing these things, you are not alone. Therapy can help.
I work to help people learn practical skills so that life is more fulfilling and less of a struggle. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is one approach that can be very helpful in changing unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. We work together to identify thinking patterns, increase your control of your thinking, and improve your mood. In Couples Counseling, we will work on increasing healthy communication, decreasing conflict, working toward common goals. Counseling can help you start enjoying your life again!

My Therapy Focus
The focus of my work as a therapist is helping people identify choices in how they think and behave, and helping them learn strategies to make these changes. People learn to have more fulfilling relationships, make themselves happy, and feel more in control. The therapy process can help you gain insight and find new ways forward when you are feeling stuck.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
If you are reading this, you have most likely been thinking about going to therapy for a while now. People often tell me that they wished they had called sooner. It is easier to work through difficulties when there is support from someone you can trust. During our initial session, we will discuss your goals, your motivation for therapy and what the process will look like moving forward. The initial session involves gathering information, but also gives you a chance to ask me questions.
