My Approach to Helping
I believe in working with people in the most helpful way that I can. I enjoy working with creative and motivated people who are looking to make changes in their lives, to heal and to grow. I love bringing things like pop culture; TV, movies, music, video games into sessions. I connect with these things and know that other people do too and they can have a powerful impact on us when talked about in therapy.
I love to work outside and do walk and talk therapy where we can integrate nature and movement into our meetings. But I am comfortable working visually either through video or phone. Whatever Is most comfortable and the best fit for my clients.
But most importantly I know that people heal in different ways and are in different places in their personal journeys and want to work with you to help you heal and grow in the best and most impactful way for you and your loved ones. The thought of "going to therapy" can be daunting and it is my goal to make this work as impactful and safe as possible by utilizing whatever is most helpful for my clients; nature, walking, games, art, movement and yes talking.
My counseling style is eclectic, primarily focusing using on Positive Psychology and Trauma Informed lens; utilizing Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness Self-Compassion, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), sensori-motor psychotherapy, and Eco Therapy interventions.
I am certified in Brief Solution Oriented Trauma Resolution (BSOTR) and a certified trainer of the BSOTR technique as well. I have been trained and certified as a Therapeutic Game Master, through Geek Therapeutics. I am a certified Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) therapist, supervisor, and trainer through MDFT International. I am also phase one certified in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) through the Child Trauma Academy and level 1 trained in Gottman Method of couples therapy through the Gottman Institute.
