My Approach to Helping
As an older adult, I have experienced a multiplicity of seasons through which I navigated prior to becoming a counselor and since I have become a counselor. This has given me priceless insight and compassion of which I use for my patientsclients; with respect and knowledge as to where each are; so as to build their skills and tools; in order for them to successfully transform negative, learned behaviors and thoughts to healthy ones. With over 30 certificates and 4 degrees, along with continued education; and due to wearing many hats (nutrition, parent, grandparent, child of mother with Parkinson's Disease; mother of special needs, carrier of special needs, foster parenting, single parenting, blended family experience, divorce, death of a close family member, trauma, teaching, and like; then I can grasp the struggles that others face. I graduated top of my class from each of 3 colleges with highest honors. I am a happy and content woman with a son with Aspergers, a daughter with Nail-Patella Syndrome and OCD; a grandchild who is partially paralyzed and with a feeding tube; a grandchild who has cerebral palsy and ADHD, and am a daughter of the Revolution with a high respect for my country and the constitution. Foremost, I am Christian, and although I will not press my values on others which would be unprofessional or ethical-I operate from high standards, and love all people and their souls. I am an artist and musician and do pull from every gift and skill that I have learned to effect healing and change. With each clientpatient-I learn and grow while helping each to do the same. I like to walk alongside, discover what tools that my clients have and then help them learn more tools as we journey together to an effective change.
