My Approach to Helping

My name is Flor Moreno and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Rio Grande City, Texas, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric and specialize in anxiety, stress, depression, family issues, work issues, or a variety of other concerns by using Cognitive Behavior Therapy and other modalities.

My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Humanistic Approach. I also incorporate other theoretical approaches based on each client's goals.

I have worked with school-aged children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and geriatric clients. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for people who are dealing with challenges of life and communication issues. I help clients make changes if needed at their pace and build skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.

I am bilingual in EnglishSpanish. I communicate in a friendly, calm, and positive environment. I want for my clients to feel comfortable talking to me about anything and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment.

I decided to become a therapist because I want to help people be the best version of themselves. We all have different needs and we all sometimes need someone who has our best interest at heart. I believe in building a honest relationship with good communication will lead to positive outcomes. I have many years of experience that has led me to pursue this career because I have always been drawn to helping people through their difficult times.

My approach to goal setting for clients is all about working together with clients to help them achieve goals they want to achieve for themselves, families or loved ones. The first step is building positive trust between us and getting comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Positive outcomes are possible by working together every step of the way.

During the first session, we will begin our professional relationship and it will be where clients want to start whether it will be talking about current, past, or any concerns that they have been experiencing. The first session is about getting to know each client and making them feel comfortable and understood without judgment.
