My Approach to Helping
Dora takes a collaborative approach when working with clients that focus on the client’s desired outcome of the counseling session.
Shawn earned a Master's in Counseling from LeTourneau University and is pursuing her doctorate in psychology from California Southern University. Shawn has experience working with individuals, couples, and groups to overcome depression, anxiety, ADHD, and career challenges. Shawn uses a solution-focused, non-judgemental approach when collaborating with clients to gain insight into themselves and feel empowered through the change process. Shawn's goal when working with clients is to improve their ability to cope with day-to-day challenges by building their coping toolbox so they can move past what has hindered them personally.
Shawn's clinical focus is getting clients to improve their mental and emotional functioning while also being able to manage work, family, children, friends, and other key areas of their lives. What Shawn offers during counseling sessions is a method that can potentially reduce the daily overwhelming feelings of adulting.
Shawn provides a safe place to express fears, worries, sadness, and challenges in the sessions. Then, based on your needs, she gives you various tools and resources that fit your personality type and lifestyle and increase your mental and emotional functioning.
