My Approach to Helping
Life is a challenge; sometimes it is very difficult. Relationship struggles and emotions can overwhelm us. We can get into unhealthy coping patterns, live defensively, and unknowingly create a false self in which we act "fine" or appear successful to others. But inside, I believe there is a human yearning to find and become the true self our Creator intended us to be.
I also believe that a good therapeutic relationship can be a powerful resource in working to heal emotional wounds, resolve relationship struggles, and become our true, authentic self. I see the therapeutic relationship as one of teamwork to identify your goals and desires for change. I see my role involving listening, really hearing what you are going through, and to provide feedback, promote insight, and offer new skills and tools to help in your healing, change, and growth process.
More Info About My Practice
Research shows that an important key to a successful therapeutic experience is a client-therapist relationship that seems to "click," whereby you feel comfortable and can connect with the therapist. Therefore, I offer a free 30 minute consultation whereby we can visit, which allows you a chance to ask any questions you may have about my approach to therapy or about myself. From that first impression you can decide if you feel reasonably comfortable with me and, if so, schedule further appointments.
Concerning fees, we can go one of two routes, through insurance or private pay. As a courtesy, if you wish, my secretary can get the details on your specific policy concerning co-pay and deductible or you can call yourself. I have a growing number of clients who have insurance, yet, because of privacy concerns, choose to use Private Pay. The Private Pay fee depends somewhat on your financial health or if you are in a legitimate financial hardship. For those who can handle my regular full fee, I ask that they do so which allows me to extend grace to those in need. This topic can be discussed during your consultation if need be.
