My Approach to Helping
Hi I'm Dave and I have been practicing therapy for 23 years. Are you wanting to make a real change in your life? Then I would love to work with you! I specialize in helping individuals like you heal from relationship traumas and break long-held negative patterns associated with anxiety, depression, and behavioral addictions.
My approach is supportive, straightforward, and collaborative. I believe that real change happens best when therapy is strategic and goal-oriented, and when it engages the whole person.
Another core belief I hold as a therapist is that rather than just managing symptoms, people can actually achieve healing and a far better quality of life. This happens best when we learn to confront emotional barriers from a place of centeredness. Strategies that may assist this process include but are not limited to: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, mind-body work, guided imagery, application of one's spirituality or religious faith, schema and thought work, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, narrative therapy, and EMDR.
